Onboarding is a make-or-break process for online communities. Aside from having to compete with several other online groups on social media, communities are also at risk of having inactive members because users are not being effectively engaged.
It’s a story all Community Managers are familiar with. Several new users sign up every week, but your average member visits, community activity rate, and number of active members don’t seem to be improving. That’s because the most challenging part of owning and managing a community isn’t actually getting members to sign-up, but rather getting them to keep coming back to a platform they love.
Member onboarding is very important in community building because getting people to engage and keep re-engaging is very dependent on initial experiences. Ideally, the goal is to create a good impression and encourage members to keep active and connect on their own. So how exactly can you achieve this?
In our other article on what makes a great onboarding experience, we talked about some strategies that Community Managers can apply in order to beef up their member onboarding. First on the list is putting together messages that actively welcome and engage new sign-ups.
In this guide, we’ll hook you up with some onboarding email templates to do exactly that.
